Re-Elect Albert Schreiber
North County Regional Fire Authority Commissioner, District 3
Experience Counts, Integrity Matters.
Meet Albert Schreiber
Having enjoyed serving as an At-Large Commissioner I'm now running for re-election as the Commissioner from my district (3) since incumbent Commissioner Ric Cade is not seeking re-election in our district.
North County Fire/EMS has had good leadership for many years and I'm fighting to keep the commission accountable to the taxpayers and the citizens we serve, not special interests. I do not accept funds or even endorsement from special interests.
The North County Regional Fire Authority (NCRFA) faces a challenge to represent all our communities. Insurance ratings have improved in all but one area, leading to reduced insurance rates. The budget must be closely monitored to ensure taxpayers are well represented. The NCRFA Training Center generates cash flow by training other county professionals. Salaries for NCRFA professionals have increased and they have a work schedule they appreciate.
I have 36 years of Public Safety experience, advanced education/degrees in business & public administration, and demonstrated leadership skills. I have taught leadership at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and around the world for Pointman Leadership Institute. I have also served as a County Planning Commissioner in Whatcom County.
My interest in emergency response started in my teenage years and I have earned certification in Wilderness & Remote First Aid. Also, I am a lifetime member of the National Ski Patrol. With my education, experience, and board leadership I believe I can continue to make valuable contributions to the board of commissioners. I have the support of active and retired emergency personnel, educators, and pastors.
Albert Schreiber and his family reside in the Warm Beach area.

My Beliefs
I believe in the benefits of a Regional Fire Authority (RFA) for efficiency of a larger area, not a specific area and I support deploying units where they serve the full RFA using data and standards from the industry. I believe we need to grow responsibly by deploying resources responsibly. As the population grows, calls usually follow suit. My predecessor, the incumbent At-Large Commissioner in position 6 (Larry Longley) ran to regionalize the RFA to capture these efficiencies and professionalize the department. .
I believe in hiring the best people, giving them the best training, the best equipment, and providing them with the resources to do their job effectively and efficiently while making the best use of our taxpayer dollars. The new NCRFA Training Center is a good example not only for NCRFA personnel but also for others in the county and will provide a positive cash flow in the future.

“I urge you to support Al Schreiber, who is running for the District 3 position on our board of commissioners after serving in an At-Large Position. He will be the voice that work hard to keep your tax rates as low as possible while continuing to provide fair and equitable coverage to ALL of our residents. We can not afford to allow our emergency fire and EMS coverage to be dictated by special interests or union leadership. I respectfully urge you to vote for Al Schreiber to continue the good service that we have all grown to know and expect over the past several years.”

Questions & Answers
-
I consider political signs to be an eyesore in our communities comparable to graffiti. They are no longer placed in people’s yards to show support but stuck everywhere in the public right away along many of our roads and at corners where visibility is critical. It is illegal to place signs in the public right of way along our state highways as my opponent has done. I have pledged not to litter our beautiful area with political signs that often remain much too long after an election. I also challenge my opponent to do likewise. When I see all these signs I wonder who or what group is behind them and what is their agenda.
WSDOT informed candidates in a letter that “Only official traffic control signs may be placed in the state highway right-of-way. All other signs are illegal and will be removed by maintenance crews. This includes political campaign signs.”
